I had this working on my main desktop machine, but wasn't able to connect with my laptop. For the laptop, I had followed the example in the FAQ many moons ago, and therefore thought something had changed server-side (I was away and didn't have access to my desktop to see how it was configured). I simply removed the port# and everything worked fine. The link you provided illuminated my error.
